I continue to read about how baby boomers are having to delay retirement, and others are returning to the work force. While some that have been retired for a while are happily returning to work. Let me tell you that I fit in the group that is not happy about even having to continue to work until retirement age. And the talks I hear about extending the retirement age to 70 sends chills down my spine.
Now I can appreciate that there are many of us that need to work to the ripe middle age of 70 just to have enough money to survive in retirement. But I make no bones about it if I did have retirement money now I’d be the first in line at the boss' door to hand in my retirement notice.
I am standing looking out the bedroom window of my beautiful retirement home at the bald prairie landscape of our land which is bordered on two sides by a small river, our neighbours crops and black Angus cows, with rolling hills just covering the mountains being. Hawks and Swallows chase one another over a clear blue sky and evenings bring deer to our front door on their way to the night shelter on a small island in the river. Sounds ideal doesn’t it? But as I am standing here wishing I didn't have to leave to return to work in the city tomorrow, I am also wondering how many others have reached this point in their life. Here I am closing in on retirement age, yet so far away from being able to actually retire. Yes, I have the house and the land ready and waiting, but like so many others in today’s economy quiting my job to enjoy isn't likely to happen any time soon. I long to retire stress free and to enjoy this lovely house and setting that two years ago seemed but a step away. Now retirement itself seems years away and stress free but a dream. With a husband forced into retirement without a pension plan, (insert no money), I remain the sole provider and due to being self employed for years and bad accounting advise without any pension or retirement funds. So as the old saying goes, its off to work I go, because we owe, owe, owe. I get to spend weekends at our retirement home but come Sunday evening I head back to the city and a small condo to get ready for work on Monday while my husband remains on “the land”. But I refuse to be one of those old ladies who does nothing but cry in her soup (probably another old saying) and have become almost obsessed with finding a way to retire stress free on line by learning how to make my retirement money online. Others have done so, albeit they probably aren’t as old as I am or as close to real retirement age. To them leaving the day to day compute and working for someone else behind them is retirement. It is, it would appear also stress free because they have now found their own retirement money online and I am bound and determine to do so as well.
You see finding retirement money is not just about me being able to retire without the stress of not having enough money to enjoy it, it is also about helping you do the same thing. Now I don’t know about you but stress free retirement to me means at a minimum having a residual income that allows me to do what I want, when I want, how I want, as well as a nest egg to cover me when I am not well enough (and we all know that day will come) to do the things I want. 4) Discounts, product and discounts I find that can help us save money as we search for ways to make money online to retire with.
5) Some of my own personal musing just to break the monotony along the way.
But I ask your patience as we go and remind you again I am in no way a computer or Internet wizard. So some of this may be old hat to you and as repetitive as all get out, but I am learning as I go and who knows I may just come up with something you didn't know either.
